Mull is often described as the Island of Eagles, and we are often lucky and see these huge birds of prey on our travels.

When sitting on the shore they do not look all that elegant. "Scruffy Chickens" was one description that seemed quite apt.

When in their element soaring above us with no apparent effort these huge birds and a real treat to watch.

Golden Eagles have been most common of late but the success of the re-introduction programme means we now see increasing numbers of the even larger Sea or White Tailed Eagle. Not to be confused with Fish Eagle or Osprey which we also see occasionally.

Golden Eagle

Here what we believe is a Golden Eagle is first mobbed by a pair of hooded crows and then offers an elegant flying display for a few minutes.

This was filmed just outside Loch Spleve Mull. My apologies for the speeded up sound track which I will fix when I can figure out how!
